St Georges Parade in Colchester

18 April 2013

As you should all be aware, each year we attend the St Georges Parade in Colchester.  This year the parade falls on Sunday 21st April and will once again be in attendance.  This is an event where all Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Network and Leaders in Colchester will be present, so it is a big event and we expect all of you to be in attendance too.  (We only require you to attend two events each year and this, along with Remembrance Day in November.)

We will be meeting in the Brittania Car Park (next to the Colchester Town Train Station) in Colchester at 1.30pm at Assembly point ‘L’.  We will walk along Osborne Street, up Head Street and then down the High Street to the Castle where we will have a service in Hollytree Meadow (the area below the play area).  Please note that while parents will not be involved in the parade they are more than welcome to watch as we walk around town, and then at the service, space permitting.  We will be finished around 3.30pm ready to be picked up from Castle Park at Dismissal point ‘L’.

Car Parking will not be available in the Brittania car park so parents may need to find parking elsewhere (for example Vine Yard Street or Priory Street Car Parks).

You will need to wear your top half uniform (Beaver Jumper / Cub Jumper / Scout Shirt / and Group Scarf.  Explorer Scouts should wear Explorer Shirt and Unit Scarf) along with Scout trousers or smart black/grey school trousers (if you do not have Scout Trousers) and black shoes and black/grey socks.  We will not be wearing coats so if it is a cold day wear something warm underneath your uniform.  Although all are expected to attend, please let me know if you cannot.

We have been asked to provide two adult Marshalls from our Group.  Please could you let me know if you can help or need further information.

Kind Regards

Jan Bovingdon

Group Scout Leader
