Thorrington Fun Day
Saturday 22nd June didn’t look like it was going to be a very dry day. From early in the morning all I could hear from the comfort of my bed was the falling rain on the roof of my home. The question “How many activities were inside?” ran through my mind, the answer was “none”. So with the tradition scouting approach of “Be Prepared” waterproof clothing and hiking boots were packed as I headed off to Thorrington Scout Camp for the arrival of the Cubs and Beavers.
My fears wern’t realised, the rain had stopped by 10:30 and was not seen again until 5pm after everyone had gone home. The Cubs explored the site in small groups while the Beavers were escorted around the activities.
We started with Crate Stacking, then stopped for lunch. Some Beavers had their faces painted – Zombies were quite popular. The afternoon started with the Caving room, we then entered the 3D Maze, and the final adrenalin based activity was the Zip Wire. All the Beavers attempted each activity, many conquering their fears!
The day concluded with a Camp Fire sing along, and each child in attendance received a badge to be attached to their uniform.
Here are a few photos from the day.
