Beavers
On Sunday the weather was superb.
Hundreds of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Network & Leaders assembled in the grounds of St Botolph’s Church in preparation to parade through the streets of Colchester. The destination; Colchester’s Castle Park, for an open air ceremony, during which each member was able to renew their Scouting Promise.
About a week ago, Google released it Map editor tool in the UK. This has allowed us to mark the boundary of the grounds, and upload some additional information to Google Maps.

As you should all be aware, each year we attend the St Georges Parade in Colchester. This year the parade falls on Sunday 21st April and will once again be in attendance. This is an event where all Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Network and Leaders in Colchester will be present, so it is a big event and we expect all of you to be in attendance too. (We only require you to attend two events each year and this, along with Remembrance Day in November.)

Dear Beavers,
On Saturday the 9th March 2013 we will be attending the District Dabble Day. This is an event for all of the Beaver Scouts around Colchester Estuary, our District, to come together and enjoy a day of crafts.
The event will be at Rowhedge Village Hall, Rectory Road, CO5 7HX. The cost for the day will be £4 per Beaver. As with all Beaver events, you must arrive in your Beaver Uniform.

We have recently received a number of complaints around the track to the Scout Hut and the Car Park.
Can I please take this opportunity to remind drivers that the speed limit, including the track and Car Park, is 5 mph. The main reason for this is the Scout Hut is used by a lot of children and we want to keep them as safe as possible.

We start back at Beavers/ Scouts on Monday 14th January, 2013 and Cubs on Tuesday 15th January, 2013. All meetings remain the same at the Scout Hut Beavers 6-7pm, Scouts 7:15-9pm and Cubs 6:30- 7:45pm. Please make sure you bring your child into the hut for all sections and register with their leader on arrival each week. Please could parents also collect their child from the hut, we have had incidents last term where a parent has come to collect their child and the child has already left. As I am sure most of you are aware each year the whole Scout Group attends the Remembrance Sunday Service and Parade in the village. Remembrance Sunday this year will be held on 11th November 2012.
